Architecture practiced with the discipline of place.
Gandhara Designs is an architecture studio working between contemporary practice and Bhutanese architectural tradition — proportion, material and place before ornament.

Principles
How we work
01
Site first
Every plan begins with the land — slope, aspect and approach — before a wall is drawn.
02
Material honesty
Stone, timber and earth are used as themselves, not disguised as something else.
03
Proportion, not ornament
Where Bhutanese tradition informs a building, it does so through ratio and rhythm, not decoration.
04
Built to be lived in
A building is judged by how it is used and inhabited, long after the render is forgotten.
Practice
Work moves from site to sketch to drawing — reading the land before proposing a form, then developing that form in proportion and material until it is ready to build.
